Custodian - PT

The City of Purcell is hiring a part-time Custodian. 

Position Summary:

The Part-Time Custodian performs a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure that City facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained for employees and the public. Work is performed independently under general supervision and requires attention to detail, responsibility, and adherence to City policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, hallways, meeting rooms, and public areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, carpets, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Empty trash receptacles and recycling containers; replace liners.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, glass doors, and other surfaces.
  • Refill soap, paper towel, toilet paper, and other restroom supplies.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks (changing light bulbs, reporting leaks or damage, etc.).
  • Ensure supplies and cleaning products are stored properly and safely.
  • Do not discard personal or City property unless it is clearly labeled “trash” or placed in a trash container.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for City property and employee workspaces.
  • Report safety hazards, needed repairs, or maintenance issues to supervisor.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred. • Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities cleaning experience preferred. • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, and reach. • Must pass background check and drug screening. • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license preferred.

Miscellaneous Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to feel and operate objects, tools and reach with hands and arms. Employee is frequently required to stand, talk, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, hear, see, and smell. May also lift or move heavy objects. Vision requirements may include color, peripheral, depth perception, distance and ability to adjust focus.
