911 Dispatcher I

The City of Purcell is accepting applications for 911 Dispatcher.  

The duties may include the following:

- Answer 911 calls and other business line calls, determine priority & response

- Operate complex computer aided dispatch system

- Monitor police and fire alarms

- Create/Enter calls for service

- Assist and direct public to appropriate department or agency as needed

- Keyboarding requires 35 words per minute - test required

- Ability to clearly enunciate all conversations and messages

- Ability to communicate effectively and make split-second decisions in high stress - life and death situations

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED - 18 years of age - Valid Driver's License - No Felony Convictions - Basic Computer skills - Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

Special Requirements

Holidays, Nights and Weekends may be required. Must be able to multi-task and work under stressful situations at times.
