Water & Sewer Operator I
The City of Purcell is currently taking applications for Water & Sewer Operator I. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work. Operates various equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water and sewer facilities and systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responds to complaints regarding water leaks, pressure loss or no water; evaluates situations; and reports findings to immediate supervisor.
- Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools. Operates light and medium-sized construction and power equipment. Follows appropriate safety and security standards.
- Works independently as well as with a crew. Some duties may include: ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and back-filling, mowing, and lagoon maintenance.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
- Motorized vehicles and equipment, including pickup truck, flush truck, saws, pumps, hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, and mobile phone.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED equivalent - Valid Driver's License - Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical - Must pass a background check

Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. Ability to follow safety protocols. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to feel and operate objects, tools and reach with hands and arms. Employee is frequently required to stand, talk, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, hear, see, and smell. May also lift or move heavy objects. Vision requirements may include color, peripheral, depth perception, distance and ability to adjust focus.
